Create Your Own Organic Perfume

This organic course will bring you to a better understanding of the chemicals generally used in other perfumes/aftershaves and encourage you to discover the scents that suit you. You will embark on a fragrant journey, culminating in the creation of your own individual subtle organic perfume, your very own signature scent.

Over a long weekend, and using only the highest quality organic or wild crafted essential oils, you will learn the theory of perfumery and the secret art of the perfumer. You will explore the various ingredients used and understand how fragrance affects mood and wellbeing. You will create your own perfume using the traditional approach of a blend of light, fleeting top notes, subtle, lingering middle notes and a heavy, lasting base note. Then take home your organic perfume as a permanent reminder of a unique time spent in an idyllic location in south west France.

The venue is L’Alabrena, a one-time farmhouse that has been lovingly restored and fitted out to provide teaching rooms, en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, riverside terraces and a swimming pool.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Friday

Arrive Friday afternoon: earlier arrivals are welcome but check-in cannot be guaranteed until after 2pm.

Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or explore the area; the beautiful village of Lunas, on the river Gravezon, is a 45 minute walk. On the riverbank in the centre of the village is a château built in the mid-17th century.

Days 2 & 3 - Saturday & Sunday

Depending on the strength of the sun, teaching takes place either indoors or on the terrace and runs from 9.30am until 5pm each day with a break for a light lunch.

The days are spent learning how to formulate and develop your own personal organic scent. You will have time to refine your perfume blends and so create something that will truly be ‘yours’.

Day 4 - Monday

After breakfast, guests are asked to checkout of their rooms by 11am. If the programme of courses allows, it may occasionally be possible for guests to extend their stay and explore the Herault region more closely.

Cost: £700

Prices are for one person in a double/twin en-suite room.

Two people sharing the room, both doing the course will be offered a 15% discount on the total price of the course, so £1190, saving £210 on total of £1400.

A companion sharing your room, not attending the organic course, will be offered 25% discount for a full board stay, so £525.

A 15% deposit is required when booking an organic course, payment of which indicates acceptance of our Terms and Conditions.

Testimonials

"Having delayed our message to you till now made us think about all of you everyday. Sometimes it is hard to find the right words through which we try to show our appreciation to a person or persons. What we all feel and want to convey to you is that we were extremely pleased and happy to spend those few days in your place and with your company. You made our trip joyful and we enjoyed making your acquaintance and gaining new friends.

We seize this occasion to thank you very much for your kindest hospitality and for the endeavours exerted by all of you. Wishing you the best at all times!"

"Theory comes first, practice later. It's technical stuff so pay attention at the back... I plump for orange... then cedarwood... followed by random clove and ginger. ...are the high-octane aphrodisiacs effective? Sadly not. A beginner's mistake. Next time I'll go easy on the cedarwood, heavy on the peppermint. Ladies, you have been warned!"
